I'm going back to school now and I lost my computer when I spilled a drink all over it. And getting sick over the holidays sucked too.

I have two new items to update with. The first has details of an upcoming event in Chicago where Boys Don't Cry will be screened:

Sunday, Oct. 16, Robert K. Elder, author of The Film That Changed My Life: 30 Directors on Their Epiphanies in the Dark, brings filmmaker Kimberly Peirce to the theater to talk about the movie that drew her to cinema, The Godfather. Elder and Peirce will do a Q&A and sign books after the screening.

I've done a bad job of updating this site over the past month. But I did notice something recently that related to my last post back in March. It was about that web series, a mockumentary about the making of a musical of Boys Don't Cry. This article from The advocate says that the web series recently won some awards in los angeles. Maybe it is just me, but I still think this is an odd subject for a comedy.

I was glad to come across this article for two reasons. First because it means I am not the only one that thinks this isn't so funny. And two, because one of the commenter's mentions my site.

I posted about Patricia Dye a few days back because it was being called a 'real life Boys Don't Cry' in news articles. So this morning I see another article titled 'Ohio woman accused of Boys Don't Cry Ruse'. Which lead me to the article posted below.

I think the reaction from the mother of Patricia Dye is so bizarre and funny that I couldn't not post it.
...Dye's mother is defending her daughter.

"I know my daughter," Dorothy Dye said. "More better than what anybody else does, she's not like that. So why do you think that the police are saying she impersonated a boy? Hey, she always has done that. My God, there's a lot of girls always, uh, always pose, you know as a guy."

Dye said she still cannot believe her daughter Patricia was led away in handcuffs.

"My husband had seen 'em when they put the handcuffs on her," said Dorothy Dye. "'What are you doing?' my husband said."Dorothy Dye said that her daughter has always dressed like a tomboy.

"She had done that into the school and nothing was done," she said. "There is nothing wrong with women, young kids, wearing Levi pants, absolutely not."Dye said her daughter's boyish mannerisms never seemed abnormal to her.

"You know, like when two girls you know, touch one another, people always makes it out that they're lesbian and that's not true, my daughter is not a lesbian," Dye said....

What planet is this woman from, and why couldn't my mom be from there too? Would've saved me a lot of grief growing up. Check out the full article here.
